POPTY DAY WORKSHOP

SPRING INTO LINO : ABSOLUTE BEGINNERS

Saturday 12 April 2025 • 10am–4pm

A day with printmaking artist Beth Knight @bethknight.art to learn the basics of reduction lino printing.

Tea and coffee provided, please bring your own lunch • Limited to six participants • £75 per person including a take-home beginner’s lino-cutting kit

Working from her home studio in North Pembrokeshire, Beth creates lino-cut artwork inspired by landscapes and wildlife. Aiming to capture the spirit of the natural world and the story of the landscape in her prints, she uses a variety of printmaking methods to create pieces with depth and atmosphere, developing techniques to capture light, distance and detail. Read more about Beth's practice on her website.

In this one-day workshop you will learn the basics of lino cutting and how to make a ‘reduction’ lino print. This is a method of printing in which each colour layer is carved out of the same piece of lino, usually the lightest colour first and the darkest colour last.

Suitable for adults with no printmaking experience. Work from a simple design template provided by Beth to learn the basics of lino cutting and the reduction technique. No drawing skills or previous lino cutting experience needed.

You will take home your beautiful handmade print, plus a beginner’s kit to enable you to continue your lino printing journey.
